Welcome

I hope you like what you see here, whether it's browsing my booklist, reading how-to's about writing, or random thoughts about life in general. I'm always interested in people's opinions about books, about romance, about writing, so if you want to put in your two cents, feel free to  e-mail me.

Chalice of Roses - trade edition January 2010

The more I look at the cover of Chalice of Roses the more I think i like it. Once again the anthology features the Fab Four (no, not the Beatles), Jo Beverley, Mary Jo Putney, Barbara Samuel, and me. I absolutely adored writing my story, Miss Templar and the Holy Grail. I just finished going over the page proofs, and I still like the story I've written. Funny, because I often feel discontented about my stories in one way or another, but not this one. It was sheer joy to write, and I didn't mind at all reading it again.

Anyway, for this story, I've gone back to my Regency roots, and it's done in epistolary style, a.k.a. 19th century blogging. The fun thing about it is that you get, side by side, two people's "blogging" on the same events. Except it's Regency, and features the Holy Grail, Almack's, Sir Walter Scott, Napoleon's spies, and "where's Waldo?"

Trust me, it works. Really.

Blogs, other web locations, and Current news...

I have a new blog, Playing With Words. I've decided to separate my writing-related blog entries from my every-day entries, so there you'll find everything I have and am currently writing about writing, contest judging, publishing, conferences I am attending, conference news, the markets, etc. My favorite conference to go to, other than the Romance Writers of America National, is the Greater Seattle Chapter's Emerald City Conference, one of the biggest--if not the biggest--romance writers conference on the West Coast.

The Pollyanna Files - my blog of unrelenting sweetness and light. Go there if you want to find out what I might be reflecting on (usually spinning, knitting, and what restaurants and foods I have discovered in the Puget Sound area).

Occasionally, I'll write some articles for Clever Divas, a blog that features useful and entertaining articles for women by women. Check it out! We've got everything from how to handle finances to recipes to the care of our loved ones as well as our furry friends.

I'm also playing around with MySpace and Facebook to see what that's like. I think I'll post mostly to my Pollyanna Files blog, though, and MySpace/Facebook will be mostly for announcements and such. Oh, and I have discovered Twitter, which is fun and about my speed, especially if I'm working overtime at my day job.

And then there's Etsy. Lovely, lovely Etsy, where everything there is hand made. Including my handspun yarn.
