Desperate Threads is authored by Mark Morrell and is a collection of 13 
haunting fictional tales and the author's own true account of his experiences 
on leaving Manhattan on 9/11/2001. The collection weaves together characters 
digging beneath the surface of their own tribulations and dark burdens to 
uncover the truths about the world in which we all live. From a university in 
the downtown streets of New York City, to the settings of Sotheby's display 
rooms, a jail cell, and the Nevada desert; Desperate Threads exposes the 
forces of loneliness, loss, and self-exodus. A brief introduction to each  
story from the author gives details about how the stories took shape from his 
own personal experiences. Readers are invited on a stake-out with two cops 
who become assassins by default in Execution of a Suicide, and take a walk 
through the Auction of the Man in Black where the memorbilia of two legends 
on display sends a message about love. Take a ride through the Nevada desert 
in Snow Globe and then drive it again to find out where Purgatory lies. 

The experience of the characters in these stories is told through the ghosts 
that haunt us all, and such spirits are at work in the pages of Desperate
