Such word studies, though, are often fraught with difficulty. Unless one uses an exhaustive concordance, some verses are bound to be missed and there is always the problem that a word study of an English translation (especially where it is dynamic or a paraphrase) will tend to demonstrate the translator's word usage more that the author's. Of course, one can use a Greek concordance but this has problems of its own. There simply aren't many Greek concordances out there and those that do exist are either based on an out-dated text, are extremely bulky and/or cost large sums of money. Index to the Greek New Testament was designed to overcome these problems. It is based on the lastest critical text (UBS4/NA27) and is much smaller that a concordance because it does not list a `context' for each word that occurs. This should prove no problem for people doing word studies as all that is needed for such studies is the book, chapters and verse reference of every occurence of the word in question. No words are excluded from this index and hence complete word studies of any Greek word are possible.
