The
content of AlienSkin Magazine changes monthly with new stories, new articles,
new FAQs, and new Round Robin additions. Contests run bimonthly.
Featured
Fiction:
Each issue features 3-5 SFFH short fiction (1001 - 3,500 words) by new
and previously published writers. AlienSkin Magazine pays a SemiProrate of
1/2 cent/word for stories chosen for publication.
Flash
Fiction:
Each issue features 4-7 short short fiction (250 -1,000 words) by new and
previously published writers. AlienSkin Magazine pays a SemiProrate of 1/2
cent/word for stories chosen for publication.
Non-Fiction
Articles:
Each issue features 3 articles (1 article for each of the 3 genres we
publish. Each 500
-1,000 words). Articles are pretitled and themed by AlienSkin Magazine
with future titles and themes listed under the Events section of the magazine.
AlienSkin Magazine pays a SemiProrate of 1/2 cent/word for articles chosen for
publication.
Round
Robins (Stories-in-Progress):
We offer 3 stories in progress (1 Round Robin per SFFH genre).
AlienSkin magazine provides the story title and beginning paragraph.
Subsequent paragraphs, continuing the story, are provided by submissions by
anyone who emails their paragraph to AlienSkin by the submission deadline.
Only one paragraph is selected each month for each of the Round Robin
stories. Honorable mentions, listing author name, are given to the 1st
and 2nd runner up paragraphs each month, as well.

Bag:
Comments and suggests received via email from readers and fans are posted in
each issue.
Writing
FAQs:
Each issue features 4-6 questions and answers on writing techniques to help writers
hone their skills in the craft of short story writing. AlienSkin
welcomes and prints questions on writing from its readers. The AlienSkin
staff use various resources when researching answers to submitted
questions, and will help direct writers to other sources when the staff
fail to find a reliable answer to a submitted question.
Bi-Monthly
Sentence Contest:
Each issue posts listings of current contest information under the Events
Section of the magazine. AlienSkin Magazine provides 3 starter
sentences. Stories submitted for the contest must use the one of the
starter sentences to begin the story, story length must not exceed 1,000 words
in length, and stories must fit within the genres of science fiction,
fantasy or horror. One winning story is selected. Entries
are submitted via email within the body of an email to AlienSkin
(attachments are not accepted). Entry fee is $2.00US per entry. Honorable
mentions, listing author name, of the 1st and 2nd runners up are posted in
the Winners Ring section of the magazine. Winning story prize is $25.00US.

Section of the magazine. AlienSkin Magazine provides 3 story Titles.

submitted as entries must somehow relate to the chosen title, story length
must not be more than 1,000 words in length, and stories must fit
within the genres of science fiction, fantasy or horror. One winning story
is selected. Entries are submitted via email within the body of an
email to AlienSkin (attachments are not accepted). Entry
fee is $2.00US. Honorable mentions, listing author name, of the 1st
and 2nd runners up are posted in the Winners Ring section of the magazine. Winning
story prize is $25.00US.
