Hi, everyone! Once again, I haven't been checking in as much as I should, but it's so nice to come back and see a bunch of new posts. As always, kind words are much appreciated, and less-than-kind ones. . .[click: Enable tape] You Are Entitled To Your Opinion [cleck: Disable tape]
[g]
But seriously, all I ask is that any less-kind words be phrased as politely as possible. Yeah, I know, I know, not Edgy, but I won't report anyone to the Kewl-'n'-WithIt Police if you won't.
So right now, it's all about -waiting-: Waiting for NOBODY'S PRINCESS to hit the bookstores (which it does THIS week! Huzzah!). Waiting for the Nebula Awards in New York City, where I am a finalist in the short story category for "Helen Remembers the Stork Club."
Yes, both of the above are about Helen of Troy, aka Helen of Sparta, though in quite different aspects.
And yes, I have been to see "300." I know the history, I read (and loved) the graphic novel, and I was VERY happy with (and wowed by) the movie. "Awesome" is used so much that the word's become cheap, but IMHO, "300" was old-time-full-on Awesome.
If one of my books should ever become a movie,. I can only hope it would get such fantastic treatment.
Okay, carry on! [g]

I have enjoyed the Chicks in Chainmail series. I even booktalked one volume to a group of librarians as an excellent example of the genre to suggest to their customers. I look forward to seeing your name in the contents of anthologies. I'm not much of a fantasy novel reader but I do try. But your short stories are perfect.

I have been reading your books for years now. I started with Hooray for Hellywood and I have been getting your titles when they come out. It is refreshing to find an author that is laugh out loud funny. Please keep the humor coming. It is nice to have some levity in this day and age.

I have read only two of your books: The Psalms of Herod and The Sword of Mary. Both books were eye openers. My son gave them to me as a gift and I must say you have a talent that lends itself to the most unusual conclusion of post-apocolyptic realm. I do appreciate the input. My students have used the books for many of our discussion as proposed ideas of futuristic times.
Thanks again.

Ms. Friesner,
I just wanted to tell you that I love the entire Chicks series, and The Sherwood game, and Temping fate. I cannot wait for the sequel to Temping Fate and eagerly await it's arrival.

My apologies for not having peeked in here more frequently.
I've got my fingers crossed for a sequel to TEMPING FATE even now. It is in the laps of the gods--or rather, in the lap of my editor. [g]
More on that when there IS more to report. (But you know there won't be any news until 2007. Happy holidays are for editors, too!)
As to the CHICKS series, I'm not so happy to say that it does not look like there will be another, though I'd lvoe to do one.
OTOH, door closes, window sorta-kinda opens: I was ambushed by the Muse and am now wiating to hear about a new and different, but still Fun Stuff anthology project or two.
I do hope that both of these come to pass, but will happily settle for one.
More I cannot say, at this point.
Stay tuned!

Belated [wave, wave] to Frank May, and much regret that we didn't get to cross paths in Florida. We miss you and your family, too! Yes, I do know Jane Yolen, I loved BRIAR ROSE, and if I may say so, Jane is that wonderful combination of a writer whose extraordinary talent is equaled by her extraordinary goodness as a person. That's IMHO and I'm sticking to it!
And for my same-name-no-relation Lawrence, thank you very kindly for your support, and I am happy to let you (and everyone) know that I am busily at work on NOBODY'S PRIZE, which will be the companion volume to NOBODY'S PRINCESS (set for publication in April 2007, but--wow!--available for pre-order from Random House -now.- Coolness!)
I hope that when these become available you'll have at least as much fun reading them as I had writing them, i.e. lots and lots! [g]

Vielen Dank. Sie sind sehr fruendlich. (And that's probably about it for my grasp of German aside from knowing the "Geschwindichkeitsbegrendsung" means "Speed limit." So my apologies for any errors.)
