I have read all 5 of your novels and have to say you are an amazing writer. I find that once I start reading your book I have a hard time putting it down, you are an amazing writer and hope that you plan to write more horror novels soon. You have to be my favorite author. Thank you for many hours of on the edge of my seat reading. I have a great interest in Native American history and art so when I heard of you I had to see what your novels were like. Thanks again for many great hours of reading!

I really love you work!!!!!! When I talk to others about reading I always tell them to find 1 of your books and either read or listen to it. I haven't found anything you have done that I don't like. I'm a truck driver so it's hard for me to find time to read, but I love listening to audio books. Hope you have a new book soon. I can't wait to get it.

I normally do not read "horror" stories. I picked up Breed on impulse while at my Orange Park, FL library and read the first two paragraphs.I felt that I would enjoy this one. You didn't disappoint me. I'm especially delighted in your use of "horror entertainment" to educate. I'm now on the prowl to locate and own every book you've written and any new ones as fast as you can get them printed.

Hello Owl,
I heard your name first mentioned in a novel by another Horror writer, Bentley Little and it prompted me to start looking for your books. I curently am reading Breed and I also bought Evil Whispers. So far Breed has me enthalled and I give it a double thumbs up on originality and creep factor. I am looking forward to reading all your horror novels.

I used collect owls,(figurines,pic,etc..),so when I came across a book with the name of "Owl
Goingback, titled Darker than Night, I decided
to read it, but found that I couldn't put it down
until I was finished, but it left me wanting to
read more. I just finished reading my second book
Evil Whispers and cannot wait to start on Crota
if my book store can get a copy of it. I'll be
looking for more horror stories written by you,
as these are the best "Owls" I've acquired so far
You have an aweome story-telling gift !! Thank
You for sharing, and taking me on an exciting
roller-coaster ride...I can't wait to get back on. Keep up the great work!!!

I read Crota 2 years ago and was so impressed that I ordered Breed and Evil Whispers, got them in but was engaged in painting at the time so they were set asside. Well this past weekend that all ended. Not the painting the non reading. Daughter gave me a chaise lounge so I can now sit up (staying awake) and stretch out to read. Read them both from Saturday morning to Sunday night. Wow, you have fast becoming one of my favorite authors. I love the indian lore you use in your stories. I am half Sioux so I love that you incorporate indian historical sites and history into your work. Your website is awesome. Keep those stories coming I am now looking for Darker Than Night and the Children books and I also enjoy american indian books for the little ones. P.S. have really enjoyed the family photos. What a great looking bunch!

I picked up Crota because of the scary Indian theme, but I became much more interested when I read about one of its characters being brought up by his grandfather near Bartlesville, OK on a reservation of the Tribe of the Western- Cherokees. I recently got my Western-Cherokee card when my mom found our ancestors' names on the roll. My mom (in B'ville) is the sec. for the local Western-Cherokee group. She took your book to show to everyone at the last meeting! I'd be interested in hearing about your connection to the Western-Cherokee tribe, your association with Oklahoma, etc. I also plan to order your children's books, as I am a teacher. Keep up the good work. Sincerely, SUE, Langley, OK, On "Grand Lake o' the Cherokees"

I been experienced the great story telling on Crota, Darker Than Night, Evil Whispers, and Breed. Each story left me wanting MORE. The charactor development, Ghost included in Breed was outstanding. It reminded me of the overlaping dialog with Howard Hawks, The Thing From Another World. Please tell me your NEXT story is ready for release. Thank you for the journey, each book..

I met you today at the book signing at Ghost Augustine. I bought the first book I've read of yours,"Breed" and I'm well into it. I'll have it finished before I'm ready for that to happen. That just means I'll have your other books added to my collection real soon, because I will have a collection of your books. This is the first time in a long time that I've read a book that I didn't want to put down. Now that I've said all this, I gotta go, gotta book to get back to. Thank you.

I just wanted to say that I think that your writing is wonderful. I found out about your writings through friends and decided to buy a book and try it out. I'm currently taking college classes and so haven't read in a while, but I finished "Darker that Night" and "Breed" within the last 3 days. I'm headed to "Evil Whispers". I'm a part of the Central Florida Muzzleloaders, but I haven't gotten to go to any matches lately due to school and work (that is how I found out about you)so I'm afraid I may have missed when you would come. If you read this by the end of this week, Our annual Bob Rogers Rendezvous is this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (a normal match on Sunday). It is primitive or modern camping, potluck dinner on sat night. Anyway, Your stories are wonderful and I hope to see you someday out at the range again. I have ben reading Horror/ScienceFiction since I was about 9 yrs old and read my first stories by Algernon Black. Seldom do I find stories that do other than to amuse... Breed is excellent it has a great deal of historical background, that makes it perfect for the story being told, also lest I forget to mention it, its the first mysterie that has presented a challenge in a long time and is scarier than hell too.

Dear Owl,
At Megacon I had told you that I had "no time" to read since the littlest one was born. You might be happy to know that I finally read Breed. I found time by reading while the news was on, then I'd retire to bed. My husband, who works the graveyard shift, (no pun...)would often come home to find our bedroom light still on. After a couple of nights he asked me how I could sleep with the light on, and that I must have been "quite tired to forget to turn it off." I answered that I couldn't sleep with it off...I was reading Breed. He did finally stop laughing a few days later. According to him, I finished the book, in "record time." Before I begin the next book, I'm going to need more light bulbs.
Thanks for the chills. Your fan, A.L. (P.s. Nancy--I *still* don't believe him)

Owl, you know I'm one of your long-time fans, since my banking days. I have read all your novels and both children's books (I now give them as gifts to all the children I know!). I can't wait to visit St. Augustine again...with a copy of BREED in my hand! What's next? I can hardly wait! I have always loved horror and suspense, but you are a favorite because you scare me to death and educate me at the same time!

As an American Indian myself, I can definitely see the link between your stories and things that can actually happen in this world, unbelievable as they are. I can also see through your writing that you are proud of your heritage. So, why is it that you let your stories be advertised by "Halloweenish" symbols, such as human skulls and such? And to Stacy Zook: A Lot of the American Indian twist is not folklore. Things like this actually happen, but if a person speaks ofthem, they are considered "crazy", like Jimmy Cypress in "Evil Whispers". Try researching the names Leonard Peltier, Russel Means, and Dennis Banks, and the American Indian Movement, whichis still active today. Pay attention to the American Indian "folk lore", as you put it, and you may learn something. I just wanted to open yourminds to whatis truly there. I was truly astonished at the amount of information that Owl Goingback put in his books. Look deeper than just the story and learn more about the people thatonce roamed this country freely.

THank you soo much for scaring the crap out of me! I live in Flagler Beach, so St.Augustine is pretty much my back yard.

Dear Mr. Goingback;
I have just read "Breed" and I enjoyed it very much. I am part Cherokee myself, and I am very much interested in the connections between the Cherokee and Celtic traditions. I would like to read more of your books as soon as I can find them. I hope you will continue to include references to Cherokee spirituality and beliefs in your work. The medicine path is one that would be of great benefit to many people, especially those who are not aware of their Cherokee heritage. I live in the mountains of East Tennessee, so the spirits of my Cherokee ancestors are still close by in our native earth.
Thank-you for your works! Aho!
Sincerely,
Daniel R. Potter

I have read Darker than night and Crota and have thouroughly enjoyed them. The only problem I have is finding anything else you have written. I live in a small city in Tennessee, (Dresden), and there are no barnes and noble or other big book stores. The two books I've read came from the local dollar general store. Maybe you can help me find more of your works. thank you very much

I was weaned on horror stories and at the age of 46 decided that there was nothing left to cause a jump. Then I discovered your books. As I read them I find myself looking over my shoulder. Part is the fact I am familiar with the areas where your books take place. Part is the way you weave the tale.I find one problem with your books, you can't write them fast enough for me! I have all your books, short stories, etc. You have supplanted my favorites in the horror genre. Keep writing. Thanks for the good scare, it's the spice of life to me.

YOU had me hooked with CROTA and as I have read all of your books I still find myself wanting more. You ability to mix native american culture with the horrors we all carry buried deep within ourselves is a release so many of us crave. I do hope you will continue to mix the two as in all reality they are intertwined . You seem to be able to uncover our deepest fears and give us great hero's to look up to as well as have our demons demenished for us without us having to do more than flip a page. Please continue to write as I personally have many more demons that need defeated and I have the upmost confindence in your ablility to rid me of them.

Okay the good news I started and finished breed today. It was a great read and really enjoyed your 3 main characters.
Bad news can't comment any more cause I'm falling asleep and I want to kick your butt.
Besides the fact you could break me in two with out breakin a sweat
You got me so hooked into the characters and the sceanes that I mentally started
also when I was reading I started to mentally block out sceanes thinking what a great movie this would make with the visuals and how to do them. Fully realizing there is no way in hell I could affoard to do them right now.
Hope somebody does jusstice in filming it right.
I hope you to conitune write with surviving characters
Take care,
Oh yeah I need if a middle aged native american male actor for a days work if you know of anybody please send them my way. Incentive he gets to polk fun at white people, current polics and news reporters

I am an aspiring author myself (unpublished as of yet). Because of some of my religious convictions I have seldom entertained a desire to read horror but...
The book spat originality as I passed over it in a local "dollar" store. Upon reading the first chapter of "Crota" after purchasing it, I am hooked. How else can I explain it other than riveting, believable, and necessary. I my dream is to be as compelling an author as Owl Goingback. Thanks Owl for such entertainment.

I have just begun Evil Whispers, and am enjoying it so much that I had to find other works that you have done. My grandmother was Cheerokee, and I have always loved Native American Fiction. I have also read everthing King, Koontz and Saul have written. I can honestly say that I enjoy yours as much as any of them. Keep up the great work....and good luck with the new book. :)

Hi from Babenhausen, Germany !
I´ve started two years ago reading Crota and be totally hooked. During my next vacation I´ll try to get the other two horrornovels in bookstores all over the country but non of them keep any in stock (even don´t know your name)(shame on them!!)
At last, I´ve to buy them in Germany from Amazon.de and I didn´t regret any minute of the search for them. I hope, the hunt for "Breed" will not be so difficult.
Keep on writing !!

Hi from Down Under.
I have read many horror books over the years and one of my main complaints has been that there are never enough on the shelves of my local library.
Have read nearly all books by Koontz,Saul, Campbell and King etc and it was purely by accident that I came across your book in my local library. . I usually read the author's details at the back of the book, first thing especially if it is a write unknown to me but for some reason I didn't do this with your book,'Evil Whispers"' I waited till the end and then read about you. Most interesting ,the information on the flyleaf made me want to get onto my computer and access your website. I will certainly look out for the rest of your novels.
Evil Whispers was just so unique that I literally couldn't put it down. Although my family know I am a prolific reader even they were surprized that I read it in three hours, that is how involved in it I got. I hope to be able to obtain more of your books, here in Australia.Good Luck and please, please keep on writing.

Owl, had picked up your book at the Chambers farm in the spring. Just now slowed down enough to read it and just like Crota I was unable to put it down! Also fast moving, yet so different. Still no scary dreams yet the suspense was awesome. Just finished Evil Whispers and had read Crota previously. I have read the horror genre for years, and was getting disappointed (and bored) with King and Koontz and their psychological/mental horror journeys instead of good old fashioned horror. I am glad that you have arrived on the scene to save us! I am not an aspiring author, just someone who loves to read. Wishing you the success you deserve!

After absorbing the entirety of King and Koontz's works, and nearly being turned off to the horror genre by Holleman's dismal offerings, I was pleased to find the three Goingback books. Crota was entertaining, Darker Than Night genuinely creepy. Evil Whispers (at page 254 right now) has held my interest firmly. Thanks for adding some much needed life to the world of horror fiction.

I have just finished reading (enjoying; reveling in; relishing; savoring; appreciating; delighting in) "Evil Whispers". I am abashed to say that I have never seen one of your books prior to this.
