Frequently-Asked QuestionHow do I enable SMTP authentication?
Skiffy says:
When you send email using SFF Net's SMTP servers, your email client needs to log on, just as it does when retrieving your incoming
mail. Logging on is called authentication, and the procedure will vary based on which email client you use.
Rule number 1: See your email client manufacturer's documentation.
Rule number 2: See SFF Net's email documentation.
Quick instructions for popular email clients:

You'll need to find the setting that controls SMTP Authentication (or SMTP after POP) in your particular program.
SMTP authentication should be set to use your SFF Net username and password (these are the same ones used
in your POP3 settings).
If your client does not support SMTP authentication, it may support SMTP after POP. This means what it says -- the
client will first check POP for mail (thus supplying your username/password) and then it will send any mail using
SMTP. Our new server is smart enough to support this method, and accepts the POP username/password as your SMTP
authentication.
Once you've found the setting, please send a summary of the steps you followed to techsupport@sff.net so that we
can update our instruction lists for others using your reader.
