Eudora (All current versions)
Download this software
Please have your SFF Net username, password, and SFF Net Email address handy
(they were included in your original signup confirmation email). You'll need them to complete these instructions.
If you're using Eudora version 6 or earlier, skip ahead to the Older Versions section.
Windows Version
Follow these instructions if you are setting up Eudora for Windows.
- If you've just installed Eudora, starting the program for the first time will automatically bring up the the configuration
wizard, so you can skip directly to Step 2. If you've already got a mail account configured, bring up the Personalities
window (either by clicking the tabbed icon at the bottom of the sidebar window or by selecting Tools -> Personalities from the
main menu).
Right-click in the Personalities window and select New from the context menu.

- On the Account Settings screen, click the Skip directly to advanced account setup radio button and click the Finish button
to close the wizard.

- Fill out the Generic Properties tab of the Account Settings dialog with the following information:

- Real Name: Fill in the regular name you want to appear on your mail. (this should not be your email address)
- Email Address: Type in your SFF Net Email address. Do NOT
put in any other email address other than your @sff.net address or your email will bounce. (Exception: If you have
an SFF Net hosted domain, you may use an email address from that domain, i.e. if SFF Net hosts mydomain.com
for you, you may use bettyb@mydomain.com).
- User Name: At the beginning, we said you'd need your SFF Net username and password handy. Get them now.
Enter your SFF Net username (not your email address) in this field.
- SMTP Server: Enter smtp.sff.net as your SMTP Server. Since you have an SFF Net address (or your SFF Net-hosted domain address) entered in Email Address field, the SMTP Server (Outgoing)
MUST be smtp.sff.net. If you want to use a different SMTP server to send your mail,
you MUST change your Email Address to match the domain of the SMTP server you choose (i.e. @myISP.com).
You cannot use your @sff.net address (or SFF Net-hosted domain address) unless you use smtp.sff.net as your server.
- Use submission port (587): This checkbox MUST be checked.
- Click the Incoming Mail tab of the Account Settings dialog and enter pop3.sff.net as your Server
Your screen should look exactly like this sample:

That's it! You're all set to use SFF Net mail.
What's next?
Your SFF Net POP3 email box has a variety of extra features you can control, including:
- Highly effective, configurable spam filters
- Automatic virus and HTML script protection
- Junk folder for reviewing spam caught by filters
- Message preview before downloading
- Email auto-forwarding
- Automatic out-of-office replies
You can control these options using your web browser through our WebMail system. You'll want to read more about controlling your email box in
the SFF Net Email section of the help system.
Older Versions
Use these instructions for Eudora version 6 and earlier.
If you are already using Eudora with a different email account, we strongly recommend you read about Personalities from Eudora's website before continuing.
You will probably want to set up SFF Net as a separate personality.
- Start Eudora and select Tools -> Options from the menu. Fill out the Getting Started screen
in a similar manner to the example below (the screens may appear somewhat different on your version). Be sure the
Allow Authentication box is checked (if present):

Do NOT put in any other email address other than your @sff.net address in the
Email Address field or your email will bounce. (Exception: If you have an SFF Net hosted domain, you may use an
email address from that domain (i.e. if SFF Net hosts mydomain.com for you, you may use
bettyb@mydomain.com).
- Click the Checking Mail icon and enter pop3.sff.net as your incoming mail server. Your screen should look
essentially the same as this example:

- Click the Sending Mail icon. If the options exist on this tab in your version, be sure smtp.sff.net
is entered as your sending mail server. Remember, you cannot use your @sff.net address (or SFF Net-hosted domain address)
unless you use smtp.sff.net as your server. Your screen should look much the same as this example.
If there is a checkbox for using port 587, be sure it is checked.

- Set Eudora to use SMTP port 587
Okay, just one last item to configure. You need to set Eudora to use port 587 for outgoing SMTP access. The method for
doing this varies depending on whether you are using the Windows or Macintosh version of the program.
That's it! You're all set to use SFF Net mail.
