If you are a professional in one of the following fields, you may qualify to sign up for a Basic Membership at our special reduced price for professionals:
- Editor, Journalist, or Publisher employed by a commercial firm as your primary job.
- Visual Artist with paid artwork appearing regularly in print magazines,
comics, or book covers.
- Author who has earned at least $2500 directly from writing. Vanity, electronic-only, subsidized, pay-in-copies, and self-publication do not count as professional publications for our purposes, even if you make money that way.
Membership in SFWA, or active membership in HWA, is considered sufficient to qualify as a Pro. In all cases, SFF Net will use its judgment in determining whether or not someone meets our guidelines for Professional Membership. The rules above are designed to make the process easier, not serve as a strait-jacket. A Professional Membership is exactly the same as a Basic Membership except for the price.
