Welcome to my home page, currently under construction.

Who am I (non-SF)

I'm a computer programmer, currently freelancing after leaving the City University of New York, where I worked for about 20 years. I specialized in non-specialization, mostly network design for the last few years.

SF stuff

I've been involved in SF fandom for about a 25 years. I've been to almost 450 cons, and worked on about a third of them. I'm working on the next few Worldcons, as well as a number of regional cons.

I'm also a member of clubs in a number of cities, including NESFA (Boston), whose web page I also maintain, OSFCI (Portland, OR), FACT (Austin, TX), and LASFS (Los Angeles).

I'm also a member of MCFI (Boston), which is running a Worldcon bid for Boston in 2001.

I've edited a second Hugo-nominated collection of material by Dave Langford, Hugo-winning editor of Ansible. The title is The Silence of the Langford, and it includes some of the material from his prior collection, Let's Hear It for the Deaf Man. It's on sale from NESFA Press. It's been nominated for a Hugo Award this year, and I encourage you to read it, and vote for it if you feel it deserves it.

I've added a page of links to things I find interesting or useful. You can probably figure out more about me by just looking at them than by most of the other things I can tell you.

This page is located on SFF Net, a location for interesting discussions about things of interest to the SF community.

I'll be adding more stuff later. In the mean time, you can send me mail at ben.yalow@sff.net
