Welcome to the Links page, a place
where I can introduce you to some friends of mine and direct you to their
web sites. This page is a work in progress, and will remain so for the
foreseeable future. As long as I continue to meet new people in my field,
I'll continue to add names to this page. I hope you'll come back frequently
and check for updates.
-
Fiona
Avery -- Speculative Fiction's Renaissance woman! Unbelievably
talented. She writes fiction, comics, poetry, scripts. And don't get
her started on The Princess Bride....
-
James
Bailey -- Editor of
Elysian Fiction, a semipro webzine that publishes some truly
fabulous fantasy. Check out his site -- you'll find a link to Elysian
Fiction there.
-
Borderlands
Books -- Okay, this
isn't a person. But it is that rarest of things these days, an INDEPENDENT
bookseller. Not only that, but it's run by some of the finest people
you could ever hope to meet.
 James
Coe -- Not only my brother, but also an amazingly talented artist.
For years Jim has been illustrating bird field guides, and he's quite
well-known as a naturalist and wildlife artist. At this point he is
primarily a plein air artist, and he does stunning landscapes. Take
a look at his work.
-
Ron
Collins -- A prolific, excellent writer and a terrific person.
His short fiction has been nominated for several awards. Ron also
maintains a great web site. Dum-Dum, anyone?
-
Leah
Cutter -- Leah's first novel, Paper-Mage, received terrific
reviews, as did the second, Caves of Buddha. And if you need
any wood split, she's apparently a maniac with a maul.
-
Andy
Duncan -- If you don't know who this guy is you just haven't been
paying attention. His short fiction collection, Beluthahatchie
and Other Stories, has won all sorts of awards. And with good
reason. Do yourself a favor and read this man's work.
-
Doranna
Durgin -- Another marvelous and prolific writer with an excellent
web site.
-
Christy
Hardin Smith -- One of my favorite people in the world, and now
a nationally known blogger -- on the Left, of course. I still think
she'd also make a fine agent, but no one ever asks me....
Charles
Keegan -- Another of my favorite people and a fabulous artist. Charles'
"Vengeance in Ice" appeared on the cover of Black Gate
magazine in the Summer of 2002, the same issue in which my story, "Night
of Two Moons," was published.
-
Stephen
Leigh -- According to
The Joys of Yiddish (a book I recommend highly, by the way)
the word "mench" means "Someone of consequence; someone
to admire and emulate; someone of noble character." If the book
was illustrated, it would have Stephen's picture next to the definition.
A fine writer as well. Check out his web site.
-
Terry
McGarry -- Bubba T! The author of numerous short stories, a poetry
collection, and three phenomenal novels, Illumination and its
sequels, The Binder's Road and Triad. She has a second
web site, Eidenmyr.com, devoted
exclusively to her books. I recommend both sites.
-
Gordie
Meyer -- Okay, let's begin by stating the obvious: nobody should
be that tall. Fortunately, he has other fine qualities, and
he's a heck of an editor.
-
Richard
Parks -- Bubba R! Terrific short story writer who has published
many stories in Realms of Fantasy and other magazines. Recently,
he released his first collection, titled The Ogre's Wife (and
published, as it happens, by Gordie Meyer).
-
Christopher
Rowe -- A talented writer now turned editor. He publishes Say...,
a themed, semi-annual 'zine. You can check out the most recent issue
of Say... at the link above.
-
Lisa
Silverthorne -- Another wonderful writer of short fiction whose
web site is a tremendous resource for beginning and advanced writers
alike.
- Laura
Underwood -- Harpist, swordswoman, and writer par excellence. She
has published countless stories, and several fine novels, including
Dragon's Tongue, (with an Introduction by yours truly).
- Cat
Sparks -- One of the many fine people I met in Australia. Along
with her partner, Rob Hood, Cat took care of me at all the conventions
and festivals I attended, introducing me to people and making me feel
like one of the gang. In addition to being a terrific person and tons
of fun, she's also a talented writer and the editor of the Agog!
collections of short stories, which are gaining international notice
for their high quality.
- Rob
Hood -- Cat's partner in crime. All the nice things I said about
her go for him, too -- double, actually, since he has to live with her....
Great writer, great person, and his collection of horror movies and
Godzilla paraphernalia is ridiculously huge.
