The serial will appear in three parts, the first in the May 1999 issue, the second in June, 1999, and the third in July/August, 1999. Congratulations, Catherine! * * * Old CALLIHOO member James Gladu Jordan has his Writers of the Future winning story, "Storm Jumper" available online in the current issue of Web SF magazine =Titan= (www.titanzine.com). If you haven't read this fascinating story, take a few minutes next time you're online and check it out. * * * The mini-retreat we held on January 1st was a success. [e-mail from Jeffry Dwight, techsupport@sff.net dated 1 Jan 99] GOOD SPAM Linda Dunn says, "I'm beginning to think we need to =send= SPAM throughout the internet: "Hi, are you a prospective writer? If so, and if you've read this far, you may well be an easy victim for con artists masquerading as book doctors, editors and agents. "The rule is this: Money flows from publishers to authors and never the reverse. Agents handle your business and issue checks to you, they do not request $75 "office expense" fees. Any publisher who refers you to an editing service he just happens to know and which charges fees and pays him a kick-back is not legit. Any publisher which charges you a fee to "prepare" your novel for publication is a vanity press." [Used by permission] ==End of the CALLIHOO newsletter for 5 January 1999==
