Writer's Guide to Queries, Pitches & Proposals, by Moira Anderson Allen. This is a terrific one stop source for those interested in how to approach different markets, including short fiction and novels, non fiction books, and magazine articles. Moira interviewed writers working in these fields and offers solid, practical, up to date advice on how to do things properly. Note: This book includes my article, "The Complete Nobody's Guide to Query Letters," in the chapter on selling novels.

The Artist's Way at Work: Riding the Dragon, by Mark Bryan. Written in collaboration with Julia Cameron (The Artist's Way) this offers a slightly different slant on creative recovery. Especially recommended for working writers who want to freshen up their perspective.

Bird By Bird: Some Instruction on Writing and Life by Anne LaMott. LaMott describes the trials and tribulations of the writing life with honesty and humor. Couldn't have said it better myself.
