What website is complete without a list of links to other sites? The very nature of the web encourages randomly wandering the long, twisting paths of hrefs and URLs! So here is my list.
Friends
- Jen Cooke
One of my best friends, and a fellow writer. Jen specializes in retellings of faerie tales, and overly-complex faux-French historical romances. (And once she reads this, I'm in so much trouble.) - Fey Boss
Fey is the co-creator of Ex Libris. She doesn't have a website, but does have a blog. Yay, blog. - Vonda N. McIntyre
Vonda is the one who pulled me into the local writing community, and I owe her a debt of gratitude for that. She's an excellent writer, and generally fun to hang around with. She also crochets fractal plankton, and, really, how can that not be cool? - Terie Garrison
Terie, over in the UK, hangs out in many of the same writing groups that I do. Her first series is due out soon! - Stephanie Dray
A fellow writer and friend for years, Steph writes politically intricate alternate history fantasies. (She also runs a gigantic online tabletop game I've played in for years.)
Submissions
- Black Hole Submission Tracker
This site helps track the response times of magazines and book publishers. Very useful when sending out writing! - Paula Fleming's Market List
For those who can't afford to pick up a copy of Writer's Market, Paula Fleming maintains a free list that is very much like it. It also has links to a number of other useful market lists and bulletins
Discussion Forums
- sff.writing.craft
A general-purpose 'any thoughts on?' forum for writers, in the collection of newsgroups hosted by sff.net
Cautions
- Writer Beware
The SFWA notification site for scam agents and publishers. - Publishing Scams Discussion Group
One of the many useful newsgroups on SFF.net, sff.publishing.scams is where people can go to ask about the reputation of an agent or publisher, and read up-to-the-minute investigations into various scams.
