[Witch and moon]

"An oven?" Nanny Ogg had said. "What'd we want to join an oven for?"
She means a coven, Gytha," Granny Weatherwax had explained. "You know, like in the old days. A meeting."
"A knees up?" said Nanny Ogg hopefully.
"No dancing," Granny had warned. "I don't hold with dancing. Or singing or getting over-excited or all that messing around with ointments and similar."
"Does you good to get out," said Nanny happily.

Once upon a time we were three [maple leaf]Calgary writers. Too small to be a union, too mellow to be a conspiracy, too collectively individualistic to be a writer's group, we would gather on an erratic basis as work, family and weather allowed to eat, drink and talk about life, the universe, writing, publishers and everything. Rebecca Bradley is an itinerant archaeologist who came to rest in Calgary after an "unintentional" (she claims) 18 year round the world tour, who writes fantasy and horror set in contemporary Hong Kong and ancient kingdoms real and imaginary. Marie Jakober is a University librarian who is working her way steadily through the genres in her explorations of power, who has it, how they keep it, and how they use it. Alison Sinclair works in the pharmaceutical industry and writes science fiction with a medical and bioscience bent. Rebecca and Marie still live in Calgary, while Alison decamped first to Ottawa and then to Victoria, BC.
