I write science fiction and fantasy, mainly novels. Eight of my novels have been published in the last couple decades. The latest novel, Doors of Death and Life, was published by Tor Books in May 2000, to generally favorable reviews. My previous novel, How Like a God, can be ordered on-line from the FoxAcre Press Web Store or Amazon.com. I have a number of other novels to come. I also write short stories and occasional non-fiction. I have a story in Patrick Nielsen Hayden's anthology Starlight 3. Every now and then I teach "Writing F&SF" at the Writer's Center in Bethesda, MD. I turn up at a lot of Science Fiction conventions. Lance Oszko gave me a photograph of me at the World Fantasy Convention in 1995. Jane Jewell took a photograph of my old college roommate, Laurie Mann, and me at Boskone. I volunteer for the Science Fiction Writers of America. Recently I produced a whimsical diagram urging members to run for office within the organization. I knit and hang out with local knitters. I have taken up playing the piano after a hiatus of more than 30 years. I paint walls, furniture, and water colors. I live in a cottage a the edge of a forest with my husband Larry, and the Natives, Diana and Simon as in "the natives are restless tonight!" Larry is the computer geek who built this web page. The Natives constantly demand unhealty snacks, play computer games, and watch TV with Larry. We renovated the kitchen in '96. The garden is steadily devouring the lawn, and Larry built a stone terrace. As a girl, I attended the American School of Vientiane, Laos. |
