Two 3.5" 1.44 MB diskettes for data and backups.

 

Course Description:

CS 2000 is intended as an introduction to personal computers. Students will gain an understanding of both the hardware and software components of computers, including both terminology and hands-on experience.  Software covered will include: e-mail, internet browsers, word-processors, spreadsheets, presentation tools, databases and computer programming concepts.  We will study hardware components including I/O and storage devices, microprocessors and networks, as well as hardware systems design and purchasing.

Regular attendance is mandatory:

Each day will contain the material of a full week of regular coursework.  Students who don’t attend regularly will not pass this class.  There will be projects that can’t be done outside of class.  There will be no make up for these assignments if you are absent.

 

Late Work:

There will be no credit given for late homework papers or missed in-class assignments.  Full credit will not be given for late lab projects.  Credit will be reduced by 50% for lab projects that are late.

 

Important:

If you can't finish a project before class starts, drop it, come for the lecture and finish it in the lab section after the lecture.  All projects are not considered late until the end of class on the day they are due.
