Course Description:
CS 202 is an introductory course in the subject of information systems for computer
science and business students. The objective is to build a basic understanding
of the value and use of information system technology for business operations,
managerial decision making, and strategic advantage. Topics of special interest
include information system planning, application development including systems
analysis and design, decision support systems, expert systems, etc. Lab
projects will focus on the design, development, and use of information system
models to improve managerial decision making.
A number of group projects will be
included in the course, some of which will be done in class and some of which
will be done out of class.

Regular attendance is mandatory:
Attendance will be monitored closely, and will affect student grades.
Students who don’t attend regularly will not pass this class. There will be
projects that can’t be done outside of class. There will be no make up for
in-class assignments if you are absent.
Late Work:
There will be no credit given for late homework papers or missed in-class
assignments. Full credit will not be
given for late lab projects. Credit will
be reduced by 50% for lab projects that are late.
Important:
If you can't finish a project before class starts, drop it, come for the
lecture and finish it in the lab section after the lecture. All projects will be due at the beginning of
Wednesday class meetings. All projects are not considered late until the
following Thursday afternoon, however.
