Web Search Engine Scavenger Hunt

 

Finding things on the net:

Click on the net address box at the top of the screen and type in www.google.com, or choose another search engine that you prefer.  To narrow your search, use several keywords .  To match a certain phrase, put the phrase into double quotes.

Your boss wants a box shipped across the US, and wants to know what options there are for shipping, comparing speed vs. prices. Find the answers to the following questions and print them out. Highlight the part of the webpage printouts that show your answers.

 

1.         What is the cheapest rate for shipping printed material that the U.S. Postal Service has for the following materials: a 50 pound box of books sent from Modesto to New York (zip 10001)? The box will contain only printed materials, and it will be 12 inches by 12 inches by 12 inches. A good place to start might be:

www.usps.gov

 

2.         Now, use the Internet to find the price of using fedex to deliver the same package overnight. If they won’t do it, find the rates for delivering the package as soon as possible using fedex. Good place to start might be: www.fedex.com
