Meet Lucian
Dust and Light, August 2014 What a thrill this week, when I saw the approved version of the Dust and Light cover. And yes, for once this guy really reflects the image in my head of the young man who tells his story in this book. Lucian de Remeni-Masson. I love the evocative background - call it Necropolis Caton. And, of course, the season is winter, because a very long and terrible winter has settled into Navronne and the rest of the Middle Kingdoms in Lucian's world. The artist who gets credit for this great cover is Gene Mollica. (Here's a larger version.)

Dust and Light is still on track for release in August 2014 from NAL/Roc Books. I did some readings from Dust and Light at WorldCon in San Antonio and MileHiCon in Denver, and got great feedback. Most like, "I want it now." That's how to make an author happy!

Meanwhile work is progressing sloooowwwwwly on Ash and Silver the second volume in the duology, which will find Lucian far away from Palinur and the necropolis. I'm juggling story development with Dust and Light revisions. After the holidays is when I'll really get down to it.

Mystery and Fantasy Crossover and Other Notes
At a Colorado American Association of University Women (AAUW)event a few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Jessy Randall - poet, writer, and Colorado College librarian - and hearing her read her delightful poetry. She invited me to do an interview on a mystery publishing blog. It was great fun to consider some of my books from a mystery perspective. Join me at Hey There's a Dead Guy in My Living Room blog.

And one more note. A reviewer of note - the proprietor of the Bookworm Blues review site, just put up the nicest essay anyone could ever write about my books. I am left speechless. Mostly. She is not a relative.

2013 appearances are done! 2014 dates are beginning to appear on my Appearances page.

Backlist On the Air
Heard more good comments about the new Audible.com versions of my books at WorldCon too. Especially for Kevin Stillwell who is the voice of Seyonne in Transformation, Revelation, and Restoration.

Keeping in Touch 2012 book signing I sent out a newsletter - and I promise to get another one out before the next milennium. Sign up below! But you can generally find me on Facebook. Drop in and say hello and keep current on books and news!

There is also a Facebook discussion group for my books. It looks a bit lonely!

A Facebook information page is in need of some updating, if anyone knows how to do this. It is pulling in partial info from Wikipedia. But it is looking better than it used to!

Waiting for word from my book-of-your-choice winners!
