Short Fiction
Well, all right, I haven't published a lot of short fiction, not yet at least. But here are a few short stories for you to look at, and I'm sure there'll be more before long.
Short Stories present a unique writing challenge, particularly for someone who is used to writing novel length pieces. The pacing is different, story lines and prose are more economical, subplots are kept to a minimum. I have incredible admiration for those who write short fiction well -- in many ways I think it's harder to write a successful short piece than it is to write a successful novel. Then again, I've had friends who specialize in shorter works tell me that they can't imagine writing a novel. I suppose it's a matter of perspective, of preference, perhaps even of how one's mind works. I don't really know.
I do know that I was thrilled to sell the stories offered here, and I intend to keep trying to master the form. I think making myself a better writer of short fiction will help me become a better novelist.
