The 2009 Toshi Kaminari Oracle Bounty

The City of Thunder Council of Oracles are pleased to present the Oracle Bounty for 2009. These are special prizes for those with the skill and courage to undertake certain tasks set out by the Oracles. A special Bounty will be presented for those who adhere to certain deck-building conditions, and who achieve certain, specific win conditions. Be warned, however...the win conditions are such that normal competition for the Kotei win may be more difficult (although not impossible and certainly not ruled out!) So if you have the courage to undertake the quest and become a Bounty Seeker, then read on!

The War of Dark Fire rages across the north of Rokugan, bringing flame, destruction and death to the lands of the Dragon, Phoenix and Unicorn. The armies of Rokugan are marshalled under the heroes of the Clans, seeking to block and defeat the ferocious assaults of the Dark Oracle of Fire's sorcery-maddened Yobanjin hordes. The 2009 Oracle Bounty reflects the two sides of this terrible conflict--the destructive force of Fire, and the courage of those who throw their lives before it to protect those who guard the Empire.

To play in the 2009 Oracle Bounty, your deck must meet one of the following sets of conditions.

The Bounty of Dark Fire

If you are going to play for the Bounty of Dark Fire, you must declare as such when you register, and your deck must contain the Ring of Fire and at least one card with either the Shadowlands or Maho Keyword. The winner of the Bounty shall be the player who destroys, as a result of Actions, the greatest number of personalities in battle (including Resolution), during the Swiss Rounds. A tie in number of personalities so destroyed will be decided by the tied deck containing the greatest number of cards with the Fire Keyword. In the unlikely event that this does not resolve the tie, then a single-elimination play-off, or other mutually-agreeable tie-breaker, will be used to break the tie.

The Bounty of Imperial Guardianship

If you are going to play for the Bounty of Imperial Guardianship, you must declare as such when you register, and your deck must contain at least two copies of the card Unproven Guardian. The winner of the Bounty shall be the player accumulates, during the Swiss Rounds, the highest total of: the number of followers with the Yojimbo keyword to be attached from his or her hand to personalities; and the greatest number of Actions or Traits to have their targeting changed to, or otherwise negated by, cards with the Yojimbo keyword. A tie in this total will be decided by the tied deck containing the greatest number of cards with the Yojimbo Keyword. In the unlikely event that this does not resolve the tie, then a single-elimination play-off, or other mutually-agreeable tie-breaker, will be used to break the tie.

Conduct

Those seeking an Oracle Bounty and who have constructed their decks as above will declare their intention to claim the Bounty when they register. A player may only declare for one Bounty. They will then play normally during the Swiss Rounds of the Kotei. A form will be provided to each player who declares for a Bounty, on which they will record the relevant number of Bounty accomplishments described above for each Round. The form must be signed by their opponent for each Round played. At the end of the last Round of Swiss, the forms will be collected from those seeking the Bounties and they will be compared by the Council of Oracles in order to determine a winner for each Bounty.
