Welcome to the Legend of the Five Rings 2009 Kotei Season. And welcome to Toshi Kamanari, the City of Thunder. The Legend of the Five Rings is a collectible card game set in the world of Rokugan, a land of samurai, magic and monsters loosely based on the medieval Orient. In our world, Toshi Kamanari roughly coincides with the City of Thunder Bay, in northwestern Ontario, Canada.
The 2009 Kotei season consists of a series of tournaments held in cities around the world. In Toshi Kamanari, along with the other Kotei cities, you will have a chance to directly influence events in Rokugan, which is under assault from the Army of Dark Fire. The winner of the Kotei will have a direct influence on the outcome of the war against this dangerous and implacable foe...and, of course, bragging rights!
The 2009 Kotei Tournament for Toshi Kamanari will be held in Thunder Bay on May 23, 2009. Mark this date on your calendars, then bookmark this site and check back frequently for updates.
First, please note that we will be taking U.S. funds at par, if the U.S. dollar happens to be lower in value than the Canadian dollar.
Second, when it comes to entering Canada, if you are a citizen of the United States, you do not need a passport to enter Canada; however, you should carry proof of your citizenship such as a birth certificate, certificate of citizenship or naturalization or a Certificate of Indian Status, as well as a photo ID. If you are a permanent resident of the United States, you must bring your permanent resident card (i.e. green card) with you. More information on entering Canada is available from the Canadian Border Services Agency.
As for returning to the United States, if you are returning by AIR, you are required to present a passport or other valid travel document to re-enter the U.S. However, if you are returning by LAND, U.S. citizens currently need to only present a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, plus proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate; a passport is not required until June 1, 2009. More information is available at the U.S. Department of State website.
