Well, I finally broke down and got a second phone line installed. I'd been making do before with just one line, and using BellSouth's Memory Call service (voice mail, but it also takes messages when the line is busy.) That was sufficient when I was living with Tiffany (and I couldn't see installing two lines into that tiny bedroom I was living in anyway there) especially since I really didn't have anyone calling me. But now I actually have [gasp] friends who occasionally pick up the phone to chat, and so whatthehell, I'll spring for another line. ![]() Possibly-cool writing news of the day is that I've been informed by the Amazing Kurt Roth that my story is on the hold pile for further consideration. (That chattering sound you hear is me biting my nails.) Other writing news. Hmmm. Well, as I was falling asleep this afternoon I thought of another story idea which I'm going to tackle. This one is also in line with the guidelines for the sff.net anthology, so I hope to have that one done in time to submit in the event the other does get bounced. And on other writing news, I'm beginning to think it's time for me to prod Baen a bit about my novel ms. It's been there 15 months, and I was told last June by Toni Weisskopf that she'd passed it on to Jim Baen with a positive reccomendation. So, needless to say, I've been on pins and needles for a Darned Long Time. Still though, it's nerve-wracking to think about saying, "Hey! Make a decision already!" especially when I want the decision to be a positive one (for me.) I think I'll confront that whole situation after I return from DisneyWorld in February. I don't want to be worrying about anything while I'm down there. (Except for the age-old dilemna of whether to ride Space Mountain or Thunder Mountain first.) ![]() And I've discovered that my new couch is incredibly comfortable for napping on. I fell asleep for about three hours after I got home from work this morning, which was a mistake since I had a terrible time getting to sleep later, and really didn't sleep much at all before the alarm went off. Aaargh. You never get enough sleep on Graveyard shift. |
