Teacups! Wheee!!

Kent, here, hijacking the Journal. I told her this was a bad idea and that her fans would hate it, but she said no, you took the picture, you write the entry. We had this amazing day in the Mouse Kingdom yesterday and are getting ready for another, Epcot today, or maybe Universal Studios. That's The Diana leaning back into about three gees of centripetal acceleration on the Mad Tea Party ... she wanted to see how fast we could make it spin, so we did.

Other cool stuff at Disney World includes the new 'n' improved Tomorrowland, which has a couple of rides I knew nothing about. The giant spinning orrery-thing with the rockets that go around is worth the price of admission, and Alien Encounter--which I'll say nothing about, so as not to spoil it--may be the scariest experience I've ever had at a theme park. Genuinely good science fiction premise, too.

The only disappointment of the day was that Space Mountain was closed. The second-to-last time I was on Disney property was in 1968, and they were building Space Moutain. Then it was closed for renovations in L.A. last Spring when Devon and I took the families to Disneyland. So I was really looking forward to it this time ... but nooooo, we're missing it by a freaking week. Phblllllt! (Diana jumps in here to say that the correct spelling of a raspberry is "Pffttthhh!") (Kent jumps back in--not laboring under the misapprehension, mind you, that he'll get the last word--to say phbllllt! Phblllt, I say! Phblllloooot!)

Dinner at (I swear I am not making this up) Wolfgang Puck's take-out stand was excellent, and the swing dance place out on the Boardwalk resort was outstanding. (We had our black tee-shirts and khaki pants on and looked just like the cute kids in the Gap commercial, and no, there are no pictures of that, thank goodness.) Diana's the best swing partner I've ever had; she holds on tight, leans back into the turns and really lets me whale her around the corners. Look at the Teacup Ride Picture up there again; she smiles just like that on the dance floor.

She's in the shower now, singing "Some Enchanted Evening." She doesn't know all the words, but that doesn't matter ... she's got a hell of a voice, and the shower blends everything into a wonderful nymph-under-the-falls sound.

She's glorious. I love her. She makes me feel sixteen again.

And my god, did I ever need a vacation!
