February continues to totally rock. I had my annual evaluation last night at work. It went well enough, I suppose; it had the usual mix of you-need-to-improve and you're-great-at-this. But after it was done my boss asked me if I was due for a raise. Remember, if you will, that I just got promoted back up to full-time pit boss, so I said that I'd been due for one at the time of my demotion, but at that time I was at the top of the pay scale for my position. However, they've recently raised the cap on pit boss salaries, so in addition to getting my old job back, I also got a raise! It's not a huge raise, but it was very nice to get. Also, the other day I received a package in the mail from our lovely and gifted Lisa Silverthorne. Contained within was a beautiful necklace/earring set that she'd beaded herself! I was stunned and delighted at the gift. I knew she was talented, but Wow! Thanks, Lisa! Most of today, though, was spent doing house-maintenance stuff. I raked my yard--or rather, I raked a small quadrant of my yard. Took me close to an hour to do that much and now I have three huge leaf piles--a winter's worth of leaves. (I have a pretty big yard too.) I can see that I'm never going to rake the entire yard; I'll probably just do the front, and then leave the rest natural, or just mow the leaves up when it comes time to start mowing again. I was thinking today on the drive home from work about how when I was in high school and college we always got a kick out of starting the "Tastes Great/Less Filling" shouting competition going at football games or pep rallies. I wonder if the kids today even know what that referred to? |
