Holy Kamoly! Jenn, John, and Toby are all going to Clarion East this year! Way to go NAW! Of course I do have to admit that I'm a tetch disappointed in the administrators of Clarion West for not recognizing such stellar talent and allowing these fine people to enjoy Seattle this summer instead of Michigan, but I suppose we all make mistakes.

The good news of the day is that I picked up a copy of Prom Night and am thoroughly enjoying all of the stories by all of the NAWers. I tell you, this group is beginning to be really impressive!

Sucky news of the day was that my not-insubstantial tax refund was "impounded" to pay for the back taxes that my ex and I owed for '97. Problem is that part of the divorce settlement was that he would pay the remaining taxes due--which he had been doing just fine and on time with the payment schedule provided, but I guess the IRS is not the patient type. This "impounding" was quite unexpected. Luckily for me my ex is being extremely cool about it and has promised to pay me that money, but it's still a huge pain in the ass. But it does explain why my refund hadn't shown up yet. At least my Mississippi tax refund should come to me and only me, though it'll be a while until I see that one since I filed on the 15th.

And Zeus is pretty much completely back to normal. The weather has been much cooler these past couple of days (I actually had to pull my coat back out of the closet) so that really perked him up as well. He's still shedding like crazy though. The Shed-O-Matic 3000.
