So my mother emails me to tell me I left a verse out of the "Barges" song..LOL

I did a fill last night at work and put $20,000 dollars worth of chips onto a game.
It was 40 purple chips, each valued at $500. Money is so surreal sometimes.

I took my wedding rings off. Big step for me, and one I kind of had to work up to.
About a month and a half ago I moved my rings from my left hand to my right. Silly, I know, but it didn't feel
quite so drastic that way. I could still wear them, though not in that symbolically significant spot.
But now they're in my jewelry box along with the few other pieces of "nice" jewelry I have. (I have tons of junk,
everyday stuff. Very little valuable stuff. I'm not a big jewelry person.)
So now they're off. Wierd feeling. I wore those rings for over 5 years; the engagement ring for 6.
I'm in such a state of flux right now, and I'm very ready for something different to happen.
Of course I also wonder what I should do with the diamond from my rings. I've heard of other women who had
drop-pendant necklaces made, but I almost never wear necklaces, and I'd be terrified of losing it. Maybe another ring, in another setting?
I really don't want it to sit and molder in a box.
Yes, now I'm focusing on absurd details in order to avoid thinking about the removal of my rings.

I got a call this morning (waking me up, but that's beside the point) from the service guy who's supposed to come out and replace
my hard drive. I told him that the new drive had arrived yesterday (next day air! Can you believe it?) and he asked me if I wanted him to come out today and
replace it. Well, DUH! (I didn't say that... I just said, "Yes, that would be great.") So this morning was spent cleaning some of the junk out of the way, and then
searching for my backups and my tape-drive software. I had several moments of aggravation while I was convinced that I'd somehow left the tape-drive software over at
the old house, but I finally did find it hiding in the back of a drawer.

The new drive is in and my tape drive is humming away restoring my data. It was not as recent a backup as I'd hoped.
My own damn fault, but doing a new one was on that list of "things to do once I feel settled." Yeah right. I might feel settled in a couple of years. Okay, from now on I'll make a regular schedule of backups.
(And I swear to god if one person emails me to tell me that I should be doing backups regularly already I'll mertilize them.)
Heh.
But at least now I know how to change a hard drive.
