Yes, I think he's comfortable in his new home. I took him for a long walk the other day and he perked up considerably, losing all of the lethargy that
he'd had earlier in the week due to me not doing much with him. I also brought him over to my parents' house and we began introducing him to the cats. He actually did a lot better with them than
I'd expected, especially considering how aggressive I've seen him be toward other dogs. But I guess he really doesn't see the cats as any sort of threat, since he only made one attempt to bark and quit when I corrected him.
So hopefully with more exposure he'll be used to the cats and will understand that they are not to be considered between-meal snacks.
Of course it may take much longer for the cats to become used to him. ![]() I took my new pistol out to the shooting range on Friday and put a hundred rounds through it. For having done essentially no shooting in well over six years I was quite pleased with how I did. At seven yards I was able to put my first 30 rounds in a six inch circle. At 25 yards I was more scattered, but I think that's going to improve quickly with practice. Of course it doesn't hurt that it's an absolutely sweet pistol, with a very smooth action. Glock makes extremely fine firearms. A couple of the guys from the store where I bought the pistol have invited me to go shooting with them in the morning, and I'm most likely going to take them up on the offer since one of the guys is a highly rated marksman/instructor and I want him to help me correct my technique. I'm pulling slightly low and left--only two inches at seven yards, but at 25 yards it's much more noticeable--and I want to correct it instead of just compensating by sighting high and right. But overall I was pleased that I haven't lost all of my previous skill. I think that after I put about a thousand rounds through this pistol I'll be back to where I used to be. Of course the next step will be to shop around for the cheapest ammo prices. This can be a pricey hobby. ![]() And, by the way, for you impatient, curious souls out there, I have a feeling that I'll be spilling the beans about my "mystery endeavour" sooner than I'd originally planned. It turns out that it won't be "completed" until the end of the year, and I don't think I'll want to wait that long to tell. But it'll still be a couple of months, I think. ;-) |
