This is kinda fun. Several of you have emailed me with some rather outrageous guesses about what my latest venture is (though I will say that No, I'm not planning to quit my job and become a professional dominatrix) and the funny thing is that twice people have come very close to a correct guess.

Though, truth be told I'm kinda itching to talk about it now, since it's sorta dominating my thoughts and activities and there's really not much else to talk about right now in here. Plus the fact that I'm trying to scrape up some information about something and I'd dearly love to put the question to my readers. Ah well. I think that as soon as I know for certain that it's a Go, I'll tell. (Of course now I've given it this big buildup, and when I do tell people will probably say, "That's it? Big deal!")

I took Zeus for a walk yesterday and ended up over at my parents' house, where I gave my mom her mother's day present (a clock that I'd picked up in Oregon.) We sat and chatted for a while (I love the fact that I can just chat with her) and then we took Zeus for a short walk through the woods at the back of their property.

Mistake. I now know that it's going to be another bad season for ticks down here because as soon as we got back to the house we started finding tiny little ticks climbing on our clothing, and I saw several burrowing into Zeus's fur. I picked out as many as I could see (ick!!), but even though I use the Frontline TopSpot flea and tick treatment on him, I still didn't want to take the chance of any of the ticks staying on him and making their way into my house. So, we went back to my house and straight to the kennel--didn't let him set foot in the house--and Zeus got a bath. What the hell, he'd been needing one anyway and at least it was a pretty day for it. I'd been hoping to put it off until today (my weekend) but it's a good thing I didn't since it thunderstormed today (which was also a good thing since we really need the rain.)

I did go shooting again on Sunday and put another hundred rounds through my pistol. I think I've isolated a couple of the reasons why my shots are off-center, and I'm hoping that about two or three more times on the range will get that smoothed out. The range is cheap--only $5--and it's a nice setup, way out in the middle of nowhere. And I mean Nowhere. It's literally in the middle of a swamp and the first time I drove out there I was wondering if the winding gravel road was ever going to end. There are warnings on the range literature and on their website that the range sometimes floods during the spring. But it's a very well-run shooting range, with extremely competent range officers. Very safe setup. The only drawback is that it's only open Fri-Sun, but since it's all volunteer labor, I guess that's reasonable. Unfortunately it's the only public shooting range in the area. But I suppose that's a good way to control my desire to go shooting every day. 100 rounds of 9mm target ammo is about $20, so going out more than once a week isn't really financially reasonable.

Today was an oddly relaxing/productive day. I got home from work and went running. Then I took a nap. Then I got up and went to the gym and worked out. Then I took another nap. Then I did some much-needed house cleaning. Then I went to dinner with my parents. Then I took another nap. Then I got up, took my dog out, then came in and worked on the journal entry. Then I plan on going to bed.

Yes, I'm a sleep camel. I certainly don't get enough during the week.
