AIIIEEEE!!!! Work was an absolute, total madhouse. Memorial Day weekend. AKK!

The big event on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for Memorial Day weekend is a big Harley Blowout. From all over the south (and maybe farther for all I know) hundreds and hundreds of bikers descend upon the coast.Harley Davidsons everywhere. Bikers everywhere. Biker Chicks everywhere.

The coast caters to them and tries to get their business, and surprisingly, the bikers are always extremely well-behaved, generally courteous, and remarkably good tippers.

So anyway, in an attempt to get as much of the biker crowd as possible into our casino this weekend, we had a big Harley giveaway. We gave away a Harley jacket, a Harley helmet, and, of course, a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The drawings were held all throughout the evening, so the place was jammed to the gills until after the last drawing. (You had to be present to win.)

Well, either someone hated me, or someone figured I was impeccably skilled and talented, for I was assigned to be the sole pit boss in the largest and busiest pit. I worked my ass off in there! I was thoroughly whupped by the end of my shift. (Okay, actually I was thoroughly whupped about 5 hours in.)

Of course, this is also right when Tiff and I decided to take our workouts up a notch. Our latest thing is to go running right after we get home from work, then go walking after we wake up in the morning. Yes, this does mean that we are running at 2:30 AM. We live in a very quiet neighborhood, with a fair amount of streetlights, and we figured that we were safe enough going out together. The whole reason we thought of this is because it has just gotten too hot to do any running during the day. It's above 90 degrees before 11am. So we were hoping that running at night would be cooler and easier. Saturday night/Sunday morning we went out and ran just under a mile and a half. We saw one car the entire time, and the weather was perfect. There was this mildly cool breeze coming off of the water, and there was no sun blazing down on us trying to fry our brains. After we woke up Sunday we went for a 4 mile walk, and then last night/this morning we went running again.

Tiffany was absolutely elated that she was able to run the whole 1 1/2 miles without needing to stop. I know that I've lost a great deal of weight, but even besides that, I am in much better shape than I used to be in! I'm really starting to feel good again. I'm looking forward to weighing myself when I wake up to see how far I've come. (It's 3:30am right now. Yes, I will probably add to this entry before the day is out.)

Pounds lost: 17

Inches lost:
Hips 2"
Waist 2 1/4"
Bust 2"
Thigh 2"
Arm 1/4" (I didn't expect that one to drop much since I've been lifting weights too.)

I have two and a half weeks to go. My goal was 25 pounds by the time I left, but I'm not sure I'll be able to drop another 8 pounds. But I do know that come hell or high water I am going to work on staying in shape while I'm at Clarion. It doesn't take that much time out of the day to run a couple of miles. And I don't intend to waste all this progress I've made.
