Okay, I promise that in the next month I'll be better about updating my journal. I've become the kind of journaler that annoys the piss out of me: the kind whose page you check every day in the vain hope that they've posted something. And since my counter is closing in on 30K (Woo!) I spose I really ought to be better. I've just been really busy lately, or so it seems. My free time certainly seems to be in short supply these days. My Other Ventures are progressing quite nicely, Zeus continues to thrive and be spoiled rotten, and my yard really needs to be mowed. I'm making progress on my fitness goals as well, though I doubt I'll reach them all by July. But at this pace I'll make them easily by the end of the year. A bit of a cool front came through last night, so when I got home this morning I went running, and was able to increase my distance a bit more. I've changed my route again so that I'm running through a neighboring subdivision, instead of just going around the block several times by my house. I've found that if I do an "out and back" type of route instead of a "round and round" one I won't wus out and quit early. I was thinking of going shooting today, but my couch was calling to me and I took a nap instead. I'll just go shooting on Sunday instead, and cross fingers that it won't be crowded due to the holiday weekend. With any luck it'll be empty instead, with everyone else doing Memorial Day type stuff. (And yes, I do have to work Memorial Day.) The nap was wunnerful, but then I had a helluva time getting to sleep this afternoon. I went to bed at 3, and I think I dozed off finally around 5:30, but then the phone rang. Wrong number. Got back to sleep and the phone rang again. AT&T wanting me to switch long distance. (I went through this crap with AT&T last year. They kept calling and waking me up, and I finally demanded that they take me off of their call list. So then, of course, they called to verify that I wanted to be taken off the call list. I guess since I'm at a new number I have to go through all that crap again.) Then around 7pm, Zeus started barking at god only knows what, so I got up long enough to yell at him to shut up. He did, and I managed to get back to sleep eventually. Then the damn alarms went off. (I have three alarm clocks. If you had to go to work at 2am, you would too.) Damn job. I tell you what, if it wasn't for the fact that I enjoy food in my belly and a roof over my head, I just wouldn't put up with this working for a living crap. No sirree. |
