Well, the excitement for today was running over some object and getting a flat tire on the way to work last night. Luckily I was only about a mile from work, but unluckily it was 12:15 in the morning on Hwy 49 in Gulfport, and my celphone was refusing to work. So, I ended up parking my car in what I hoped was a safe spot, and walking about a block and a half to a pay phone. There I called work and requested that they send the shuttle to come get me. Fifteen minutes later I finally see the shuttle coming, (they had to get permission from the Property Shift Manager to send it off property) waved it down, and watched as it drove right past me. Snarl. I walked down to the corner, waited for it to (hopefully) circle the block, and watched as it turned down the block right before mine, once again missing my attempts to flag it down. So, I started walking, quite displeased with the thought of walking the mile or so to the casino in suit and heels, in the middle of the night, in a not-totally-safe area. I walked about half a mile by the time the damn shuttle driver finally saw me and stopped for me, and somehow I managed to clock in only one minute late at work. It's a good thing I'm anal-retentive about leaving plenty of time to get to work. So, the tire was completely shot, but the bright spot in all of this was that when I'd bought my tires (just a month ago!) I'd also bought the road hazard warranty, so I got a brand new tire for only about $10. But going and getting the new tire put on did pretty much kill my morning after I got off of work. Funny thing was that after I realized I'd gotten the flat tire, the first thought that ran through my head was, "Well, there goes my nap in the morning." Can you tell I don't get enough sleep? |
