Note to future Clarion attendees: Don't believe everything in the material they send you. Actually, most of the stuff they send is pretty accurate, but it's a good idea to check on the dorm/phone stuff beforehand. But anyway, I'm here in the dorm! Yes, it's a sorta scuzzy dorm, but then I don't really ever remember dorms being all that terrific. There are two beds, two desks, two closets, one sink and a bathroom down the hall. And yes, it's larger by a pretty good bit than the room I'd been living in that I was renting from Tiffany. I have a west-facing room, which gives me a pretty nice view of the city. I'm told that the west-facing rooms get hot in the afternoons, but I think that with my natural southern heat-tolerance I should be fine. Besides, the windows open and there's a stiff breeze (at least today) off of the sound. Several of my other Clarioners are moving in as well. There're supposed to be several people flying in this afternoon, but they have yet to show. Probably stuck in traffic. I think this evening we're all going to go grab dinner somewhere, though at some point I need to trek to the grocery store and pick up a bunch of little things I realized I needed, like coat hangers and thumb tacks. No one has really talked much about writing yet, though I think it's because we're all trying to get settled in. Plus everyone seems to have that "Oh my god I'm really here and now I'm expected to write something decent" glazed look in their eyes. Only six more weeks to go. Oh, and my box number is 247 (if you want to send mail.. hehe.) |
