Yes, Margaret, keep doing it. I don't know if I'll have time to go back and fix things, but you might as well point them out. :-)

Well, we're hitting the ground running. We met Paul Park last night. We went around the circle and introduced ourselves, told him what stories we'd submitted, then we were supposed to articulate what we felt our strengths and weaknesses are. He then talked some about things he felt we were all weak on, talked some about scenes that explain vs. scenes that dramatize, and then told us he wanted us all to write two stories this week: one due wednesday and one due friday. There were several groans of horror at that pronouncement, especially among the writers who write slowly. That's one thing I can thank the Novel Dare for--I know I can spew out words. The problem is, can I spew them out in the manner that is desired. You see, Paul wanted us to write these stories using writing as a tool for conveying visual and sensory images. And, that's something I think I'm weak on. I can write a story well enough, but I tend to skimp on the settings and details. I did manage to flesh out a basic outline for a story, and actually wrote 1000 words, but I'm not sure I'm doing "it" right. I will probably end up going back over it and trying to fill that in. I'm still left with the feeling that I'm not quite "getting it" though.

Oh well, 6 more weeks to try and "get it."

I do know that one of my major projects for today is to hang that damn twill. I was woken up at 4 AM by the damn light coming through the blinds. That will not do at all.

I'm also slowly getting everyone addicted to coffee with chicory. So far no one has taken charge of the lounge coffee-maker. I always make a full pot, and people have been creeping in with coffee mugs in hand, begging coffee. This morning I was "paid" in strawberries, which are way cheap up here right now.
