I went back to the story that I'd given up on Sunday. Connie said some things in class yesterday about plot that got me thinking about a way I could maybe restructure the story and make it work. I don't have quite as much of a time crunch on this one, since I'm not signed up to turn another one in until Friday. Though of course it would be cool to get it done by Thursday, since that way I'd get Connie's impression of it too. But of course we're all feeling that way--we all want to get stories in this week so we can hear what she has to say. We're all very impressed with her so far. She's very analytical, and is breaking things down into basic concepts of structure and plot and story. She's also very friendly and funny. She spent several hours in the lounge with us last night, telling us all sorts of stories about writing, other writers, conventions, and fans. * * * * * Thanks, Lisa, for the card! I love it! It was a nice counterpoint to the envelope full of bills that my roommate forwarded on to me. * * * * * I have this huge desire to go shopping for clothing. Note to future Clarioners: Don't believe anyone who tells you to pack light and travel light. Pack everything you might ever possibly think of ever wanting or needing in six weeks time, then pack some more. Ship it up, or pay for the extra luggage charge. You're only traveling for two days. You're staying here for six weeks. |
