Zeus looks especially majestic I think I've finally found a trainer for Zeus. A trainer for more than just basic obedience, that is. The trainer I had when I first got Zeus was fine for the basics, but she really didn't have any kind of clue as to how to go about controlling/focusing Zeus's aggression. Don't get me wrong, he's not a vicious animal in the least, but he is a large, powerful dog, who tends to be very protective of the house and yard and of me. This is a good thing. Trust me. But, I want to be absolutely certain that I can call him off whenever I want, or, on the flip side, be certain that he'll attack who I want him to attack. Since I got him as a protection dog as well as a companion dog, this is kinda important.

Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this guy will be interested in helping me work with Zeus. I'm still working with Zeus on my own as far as the basics go and miscellaneous tricks, but I think I've gone as far as I can go by myself--not to mention I think I've gone to the extent of my limited knowledge of dog training. There are half a dozen things I'd like to work on, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

So I talked to this guy (K9 cop with Gulfport PD) on the phone last night, and he seemed at least interested. It was tough trying to describe my dog's temperament over the phone though. I'm really hoping I can get together with this guy sometime this week and have him meet my dog. So far Zeus has impressed the socks off of everyone who's seen him, so I'm hoping this will continue to hold true.

And what the hell, I'll be honest. I'd love to try and get Zeus the kind of training that the K9s have. I know he's smart enough, and he certainly has the physical build. He has all this potential, and I'd really hate to waste it. I guess like any proud mommy, I think he's capable of anything.
