But we still had a good time, and then we walked over to the Riverwalk--a mall on the site of the 1984 New Orleans World Fair. (Did you even know that there was a World's Fair in New Orleans in 1984? Most people didn't. New Orleans called it the world's biggest party that no one came to.) We wandered around there and did some non-shopping, then finally headed back to the car, where we got caught in a micro-thunderstorm about 500 feet from the car. After we got back to Slidell we headed right back out for food (excellent barbecue!) and then to see Runaway Bride. Cute movie, definitely a chick-flick. Unfortunately, when we got back from the movie, there were messages on my voice mail telling me that my dad was in the hospital again, so we rushed right back out again to meet my parents in the emergency room. Luckily nothing too serious, but my dad has been running a gradually-increasing fever, so they know he has an infection somewhere so it was decided to admit him last night. Kent and I ran out to Taco Bell and got food for my mom, then finally headed back to the house and collapsed. Today is the start of DeepSouthCon, so in a few hours Zeus will get his doggie seatbelt put on him and will get bundled into the car to be dropped off at doggie camp (aka the kennel.) I'm bringing my laptop with me to the con, so there may be some updates over the weekend. |
