I'm having flashbacks to my oh-so-brief military non-career.

I'm in Meridian, MS now at the Naval Air Station, and am presently esconced in the CBQ (Combined Bachelor Quarters.) Nice thing about being a chick is that I don't have a roommate, which is good since I can't imagine sharing this room with another human. It actually isn't too bad for one person, but two would be a tight squeeze.

So today I rode up with one of our detectives, since I've never been here before, and besides my "company car" is making a funny noise. Said detective is going to a different class (a surveillance class, where he'll get to ride all over Meridian following people) but the days are the same, and besides, this way we got to ride up in his jeep with the top down on an utterly gorgeous day. (I enjoy riding with the top down a whole lot more ever since I cut most of my hair off. Now all I have to do is run my fingers through it and it looks presentable again.)

I'm also not sure how much internet access there is in Meridian, MS, so this may not get posted until after I get back.

Okay, I've just finished reading the instructions for the phone and for long distance dialing, and now I know that this won't get posted until I get back. Even if I could find an access number, it's just way too much trouble.

Also, this room is Cold. I've turned the thermostat up to 80, and I've come to the conclusion that the little dial on the wall affects the actual temperature in the room not one bit, and is simply a placebo thermostat to make a person think that the room is comfortable. I won't even go into the quality of food at the cafeteria. Meals are free for us, but I'm glad I brought a lot of beef jerky.
