Okay, so, obviously November has not turned into a great month for journalling.

I had my physical exam on Friday, so those of you who had planned to email me and remind me to go to my physical on the 22nd need not do so. This morning I have to drive back up to the clinic to get my TB test read, and then I am done with that phase of my inprocessing.

I am still very much enjoying my job. I can't wait to go to work. I chafe at my days off. I get my uniform ready the night before, making sure all the little gew-gaws are properly aligned and looking nicely spiffy. The 12 hour shifts go by far too quickly, and I am never bored.

I'm starting to do fun stuff now. My FTO has had me driving for the past week, and I'm handling all of the radio traffic. It took me a little while to get the hang of talking/driving/writing/looking on the map--all at the same time, but I'm slowly starting to get it. I'm getting high marks on my evaluations on my report writing (go figure! LOL.) I'm also developing the feel for how to handle people on various sorts of calls.

We've been on daywatch (6am to 6pm) for the past two weeks, which tends to be a bit slower, so much of the day is spent simply driving around, patrolling our zone. But then that radio will crackle, "Central, 264, 10-65?" And I'll snag the mike out of its holder. "264, 10-71," I reply, and there's those two or three seconds before the dispatcher comes across with the traffic, where you're hoping it's something cool and exciting, wondering if it's something you know how to handle, and praying it's on a street that you're familiar with.

I go back to work Wednesday night, on nightwatch (6pm to 6am.) I can't wait, since this is the first nightwatch where I'll actually be doing stuff.

Have I mentioned that I really love my new job?

Well, I finally found a home for the bunny, sort of. I couldn't find any friends or associates willing to take the thing off my hands, so I finally went down to the feed&seed store where I buy my dog food, and asked the owner if he wanted a white rabbit. He was amenable to the idea, and in exchange he gave me a humongous cow bone for Zeus. As you can see, Zeus thought that was some pretty cool shit. As of this writing he's managed to gnaw the ball-joint parts off of both ends (leaving little bone pieces all over the carpet.) I think it may take him a while to get through the whole thing, but now he certainly has something to occupy him while I'm at work.
