Well good grief. The story of my bite was on the front page of the local paper (though they didn't release my name, thank goodness.) So I guess I can at least relate selected quotes from the article (taken from the Slidell Sentry News, 11/25/99):

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's officials report a Slidell woman who left behind a trail of knife cuts on her boyfriend's forehead and teeth marks on the arm of a Sheriff's deputy is now getting a taste of jail time.

Sheriff's officials say that _______ attacked her boyfriend Wednesday morning after arguing with him ... And then a couple of hours later, she attacked one of the officers who was trying to detain her, officials say.

...

A bite to the arm of one of the deputies, resulting in abrasions and puncture wounds, is what deputies say was _____'s response to their questioning of her. But they finally were able to detain her, deputies say, after considerable resistance ... _____ was taken to St. Tammany Parish jail and booked with aggravated battery, resisting arrest, and aggravated battery on a police officer. The sheriff's deputy, who officials say was bitten by _____ and whose name is not being released according to department policy, was treated for minor wounds and released Wednesday from Slidell Memorial Hospital.

Just so you know, I had no part in writing that article. And some of the facts were incorrect, so I don't think it was taken from my report.

I did realize, after reading over yesterday's entry, that it sounds like I got into a fight and got my ass kicked. "I spent the next five hours in the ER." The bite was the only injury I sustained, but a trip to the hospital is required for any injury incurred while on duty.

My arm is beginning to turn lovely shades of blue and green. The HIV meds are making me a bit queasy, but I still managed to do the Thanksgiving thing with the folks. I'm hoping I get the results of her blood test soon so I can stop taking these meds.

By the way, in the above picture, I'd been awake for about 30 hours at that point, had a posterior full of gamma globulin and was having difficulty sitting in comfort, and was attempting to write a coherent report of the incident. (Said report ended up being 7 pages long!) I was feeling pretty rough at that point.
