Sea lions on a beach near Monterey.

I finally found my submissions-tracking notebook. Now I need to actually hook up my printer and send this story out again. One of these days I need to see if I can organize this office. I mean, I'm thoroughly delighted to actually have an office, but it doesn't do me much good in the state it's in now.

And I'm writing again. I'd taken a sorta-hiatus from the writing during all of the moving and other crud that was going on. Daniel had challenged me to finish a story by Thanksgiving, and I did start one, but it fizzled out pretty badly. However, I was reading through some essays in A Treasury of Physics, Astronomy and Math and an idea for a really nifty story leaped out at me. So, I've been working on that one. It's going somewhat slowly, because the premise is rather complicated, and the presentation of it is tricky, but so far working it out is pretty fun.

I'm not sure what insanity possessed me to go to the mall yesterday. No, wait, I do know. I haven't been to the dry-cleaners in about a month, and I needed something to wear to work. They're slowly phasing out the uniforms at work (Thank God!!) and so we're all trying to build up power-suit type wardrobes. I only wear my uniform (a thoroughly hideous thing that looks flattering on no one--picture Julie from the Love Boat) about once a week now, when I really have nothing else to wear. However, I simply detest wearing it on Friday nights, because it's an incredibly busy night, and one simply gets more respect from the players when one wears a Power Suit.

But anyway, I braved the crowds at the mall, and actually found a very nice suit that actually fit me, and the price on it was only $60. Then, I found out that during 7-11AM, there was this big 50% off sale, so I actually ended up getting a new suit for only $30. So what if I had to wait in line 35 minutes.

From now til Xmas though, I'll only go to the mall during the week and during the day. Too many human beings around otherwise.
