So, of course, the first thing I did was to take a bunch of pictures of my dog! ![]() I had the day off today--completely off! No work, no details, no court, no training... wunnerful! I realized the other day that I hadn't had a true day off in about three weeks, and in the past week I hadn't had more than four hours sleep at a time and was attempting to survive on catnaps. I was actually scheduled to work a detail this evening, but my feelings weren't hurt one bit when I was called and told the detail was cancelled. There comes a point where the money isn't worth it. So, I worked all weekend, and those three 12-hour shifts back to back really take it out of you. Sunday night I got home, stripped off the duty belt, uniform, vest, and combat boots, let the dog out, grabbed a Doc Otis out of the fridge and stuck a bag of popcorn in the microwave (yes, that ended up being my dinner!), then settled on the couch, sucked down the Doc Otis (hard lemonade--about twice as alcoholic as beer), shared the popcorn with the dog (yes, the weird dog likes popcorn and we have a game where I throw kernels up in the air and he catches them), and was asleep on the couch about ten minutes later. Woke up around 10pm, got up and took my contacts outs, washed my face and did my teeth, and then went to bed. Slept a fiercely solid 8 1/2 hours, and got up at 6:30am, had breakfast, then took another nap on the couch. Woke up and showered and dressed, went to Walmart and picked up a paycheck and did some grocery shopping, came home and ate lunch, then took another nap. Woke up a couple of hours later, changed clothes and went to the gym, then after the gym I came home showered again, dressed, then picked mom up and went to all-you-can-eat catfish night at Triple X restaurant (I order mine grilled!) I think I feel human again. |
