Okay, it's the first of December, and I am going to valiantly try to post an entry every day, as per my oh-so-solemn oath to Holidailies. I've never been keen on webrings before--especially journal webrings--due to the fact that many of them have "standards" and such... I mean, that's why we formed the Not A Webring, right? However, this is kinda different, and set up to be a temporary thing, and I really do want to try and get back into the habit of journalling more frequently. I've been in a wistful nostalgia kinda mood these past couple of days, and I like being able to go back and read entries from way back and see what was going on back then and what I was thinking, and see how far I've come. So, journalling more frequently is as much for me as for my readers. As a result, you're going to get to read more about the daily trivia of my life. But then, I enjoy reading about the daily trivia of other people's lives, so maybe it's not all bad. ![]() Miscellaneous daily trivia: I got my hair permed a couple of weeks back, and I discovered that I'd forgotten how much my hair loves being permed, i.e. it takes the curl very tightly. My hairdresser even used fairly large rods and then told me that it would relax out in a couple of weeks. Well, it's relaxed a teensy bit, but it's still pretty darn curly. However, it is getting me through that awkward and painful in-between stage of growing one's hair out. Yes, I want it long again. I'm tired of the butch look. Bad enough that I wear ballistic armor and brown polyester; I want to look vaguely female every now and then. More miscellaneous daily trivia: I'm starting to gear my workouts and diet up again in anticipation of next year's competitions. I gave myself till the end of November to eat like shit and be totally diet-free. I've even been fairly slack about my workouts the past couple of weeks--only making it to the gym 3-4 times a week and not doing a whole lot of cardio either. However, this year I do not want to be 12 weeks out from the contest and have the trainers telling me that I need to do cardio twice daily. That was miserable last year. It worked... but it was miserable. So, I figure that for the month of December I'm going to do a normal healthy diet--cut out the crap I was letting myself have (no more Blue Bunny ice cream!), and start picking up the cardio again. (Had a good workout today--worked back, traps, and hamstrings, and then did 30 minutes on the cross-trainer, and 20 minutes on the bike.) Come January I'll clean the diet up some more, cutting out all the simple carbs and increasing my protein, and continuing to hit the cardio hard. Then I plan on going over to Metairie to see the trainers sometime in February and see what course of action they recommend. (And yes, I'm hoping to impress them with the general improvements I've made since last season, especially the muscle gain.) ![]() By the way, I totally hate Christmas, and have therefore signed up for two details at Walmart for Christmas day--one for midnight to 6am, and the next for noon to 6pm. Christmas is a time to spend with all of your family and loved ones. It totally sucks shit if you don't have family and loved ones. It then becomes a big horking reminder that you are alone. Mom and I have already agreed that we will do Christmas crap whenever we feel like it... probably the day after. Besides, the Walmart details on Christmas day consist of sitting in the parking lot in front of the closed store, and are paid double-time, so that will be a nice chunk of money in one fell swoop. |
