Mom and I went to the Saints game today (Mom has season tickets...Woo!)The Saints are not exactly one of the more er... stellar teams in the NFL, and this year have played rather erratically. However, today's game was a darn good one (and not just because they won!) Started out strange though... there was a problem with the sound system for the first five minutes or so of the game which caused an earsplitting feedback that rather dampened fans' enthusiasm. They finally got that problem fixed, just in time for a really terrific touchdown pass... or rather, it would have been a touchdown pass if the &^$@! referee had not been in the way!!! I'm sure that game highlight will be played on ESPN a few times. The referee got totally knocked on his ass, but he also caused the Saints player (who was about 5 yards from the endzone without a soul around him) to not catch the very-catchable football. There was much booing in SaintsVille after that one.
The Saints actually played fairly decently the rest of the game. Unfortunately so did the Panthers. (This pic is post-touchdown.)It ended up being an extremely tight game that literally went down to the last seconds. Mom and I enjoy going to the games tremendously--especially when the Saints win. It helps that we have terrific seats, and some very cool people around us. The drunks are all friendly drunks, and we happen to be in one of those spots that gets on TV a lot. (We were on TV during the Saints playoff game last year, and for long enough that we were recognized by a fair number of friends!)
Yes, the Saints play in the Superdome, and yes, I am wearing a jacket in this picture. That's because it was friggin' COLD in the Dome! I don't know what the deal was with that today.
