So far I've managed to ride the bike exactly twice. The first was a quickie five-minute ride around the block a couple of times simply because I was dying to play with my new toy. Got home from work, changed clothes super-fast, got the bike out of the garage, and rode in the last few minutes of daylight before putting the bike back up and then changing clothes again to race up to Mandeville to meet J and company to go watch a parade. Second time was yesterday when I actually ventured out into traffic for the first time and rode it down to the gym. I parked in front of the gym, took my helmet off, and the lady at the front desk gave this delighted screech and ran out yelling, "You got it!!" Heh. This is cool. However, today it is cold and rainy, and tomorrow will be the same, so I may not get to ride again until the weekend. Very unfair. ![]() I went with J last night to his gym and did cardio while he did his workout. He belongs to one of these Ultra-Super gyms that has everything anyone could ever want in a gym. The place is absolutely friggin' huge. (Actually, I belonged to this same gym many many years ago back when the ex and I were merely engaged--however the place is much bigger and over-the-top now.) And I admit it is a very nice gym--they have all the latest equipment, they have individual mini televisions on every cardio machine, the locker rooms are huge and clean. However I about fell over when they charged J $12 for a guest pass. For one time!! I only pay $20/month at my dinky little gym that has everything I need. I think J was a little appalled at the price too and muttered something about how it would be cheaper in the long run to just go ahead and set me up with a membership of my own. To be honest, if he wants to do that, I probably wouldn't argue, since that way I wouldn't be able to make excuses for not working out when I'm over by his place. Besides, he's already said that I motivate him to eat properly and go workout more often--he's already lost about ten pounds since the first of the year. My workouts have been altered somewhat due to my still-sore hand and wrist. I definitely injured something in there, and perhaps I did fracture something, but at this point it would be ludicrous to go to the doctor, since nothing is out of alignment or anything, and I know how to do the ice-ibuprofen-rest combo that would inevitably be prescribed. I taped it up yesterday and tried to do an upper-body workout, but too many of the moves were a little too painful, so I guess I'll lay off that stuff for a while longer. It feels better every day; I just need to not push it too quickly and let the damn thing heal up. So, I'll keep on with just working legs and doing lots and lots of cardio (which I need to be doing anyway.) |
