Although I would much rather be dragged naked through grass burrs than
write one of these, if you stay in this business long enough someone
insists you 'cowboy
up' and just get the job done. So, with this thought in mind,
I surge ahead.
An Okie, I live close enough to Texas to nearly spit across the border
from my porch. My accent is a mix between the two.
My greatgrandma came west in a covered wagon as a girl. My favorite
story was about a Christmas when they camped near a trading post that
Indians were visiting. Being curious, she tiptoed up behind a squaw
with a cradle board on her back. When the papouse peeed oh her bare
feet, she hurried back over to her family's wagon.
All of my grandparents were farmers, although the 'dust bowl years'
sent one set to town for work. The area I live in has strong ties to
the land and well-developed work ethics.
I am really enjoying this period of my life. My 50th birthday was on
7/7/2007. Did it cross my mind to go try my luck with number seven at
the casino that day? No. Duh, looks like that would have been a no-brainer,
doesn't it?
To find out what king of tight places I've found myself in lately,
check out my blog. Yeah, I know everyone and their pet parakeet has
a blog...but really, mine will be different. Really. Truly.... Besides,
you don't want to miss 'Hunky Mondays,' do you?

As a member of the local RWA chapter, Oklahoma Romance
Writers of America (OKRWA), I have been the lucky recipient of knowledge
shared by generous, mult-talented authors such as: Sharon Sala, Merline
Lovelace, and Gena Showalter.
With a members roster that reads sorta like Who's Who
in the world of Romantic Fiction, OK-RWA has been a wonderful blessing
to me. These authors take time out of hectic schedules to share what
they know with beginners anxious to learn the skills necessary to become
published. Authors like Amanda McCabe, Georgina Gentry, Christine Rimmer,
Maggie Price, Janis Reams Hudson (past RWA president), P.C. Cast, Jill
Monroe, and Myla Jackson to name only a few of the many talents to be
found here.
Watch for our newly or soon-to-be-published authors
such as Elle James, Jordan Dane and Alicia M. Dean. With lots of PRO
members getting close.... OK-RWA is an RWA chapter to watch for talent
in abundance!
As the new chapter in this area, Red River Romance Writers
have a small membership at this time. But as the talented authors of
Wichita Falls, Texas generously share their talents, their PRO members
are gaining in number and talent. Multi-published authors Karen Kelly
and Linda Broday generously share their knowledge in workshops and are
always ready to answer a newby's questions. This is a chapter to watch
for talent on the rise.
