Candice Hern on The Regency

Candice Hern's Regency Antiques Collection

Definition of the Regency - Strictly speaking, the Regency period in English history began in 1811 and ended when King George III died in 1820. However, George III's illness had almost led to a regency much earlier, in 1788. This period, from 1788 to 1830, is often called the "extended Regency."

Etiquette & The Regency Period - Impeccable manners and spotless reputations were the order of the day during the Regency period. The rules and codes of behavior for men and women were a part of every day life. Paying calls, even smoking governed by rules. Short.

Hair and Hat Sketches History from 1800-1840 - Hairstyles, like dress fashions, often change gradually, moving slowly from one line to another.. These are are some drawings of hair styles, hats and bonnets between the Regency and Romantic fashion history eras of 1800 and 1835.
