Conversations From
the Back Seat

In my parent's yard is this old-fashioned shed.

Inside the shed are boxes and boxes of hand painted wooden objects that my mother designs and paints. She told us we could choose what we liked. I chose the stone owl.

My son chose the fox box. (Actually, I wanted that, too, but we compromised. I get it when he grows up and moves out!)

My daughter chose this.

It's meant for the front door, with a little notepad and pencil inside for people who stop by when no one's home. Cute!

And this is a stool Mom painted for my daughter when she was much smaller.
