Editor's note:
As I'm moving my entire site to SFF.net, I came to the realization that this journal just begins, in media res, with no explanations and no opening statement. What an unwelcoming thing. What was I thinking? You have to realize that when I began this project, my website was this itty bitty thing. I figured that if any one wanted an introduction to who I am, they could go ahead and read my Random Facts about Me page. (You still can, you know. I dare you.) As of this writing, I do not have an "about this journal" page, or anything listing the cast of characters, or anything cool like that. However, if you want to be brought up to date fast, you can always read my holiday newsletters (listed on my Journal Index page. Or you can just keep reading, and try to guess at what I'm talking about. Your choice, really. Anyway, if you're one of the proud few who has gone back in time to read my journal from the very beginning, welcome. Don't despair too much over this entry, which drones on and on about boring HTML stuff. If you keep reading, I'll get to the exciting stuff like stealth vomits... Hmm (2/10/2001)
April 29I came home to find the piano bench on its side, a mattress that had been leaning against the wall knocked over, various plastic dishes on the floor, and Toby with an incredibly self-satisfied expression on his face. Someone remind me again why I have cats.Boring Web Stuff My friend, Trey, sent me an e-mail that pointing out that Connie Hirsch had collected a list of Clarion sites on her web page. I groaned and thought, all this work and for what? To repeat what someone else did? But then I looked at Hirsch's list and realized that it had not been updated since 1997, and half her links were stale. So I returned to the great Clarion indexing project with renewed vigor, and a couple of URLs that I did not have before. Finally finished the Ultimate Clarion Web Resource Guide, as well as all of its associated pages. Every single link works now. I'm very proud of my work, even if it is plain text with no graphics. I want to show it off to the world, and register it on the search engines. But not yet. The pop-up ads on Geocities have become unbearably annoying. While I'm aware that I can get rid of the pop-ups if I embed advertisements in every page of my site, I'm losing patience with this. I've decided that it will be worth joining SFF Net just to become advertising free. Once I'm done moving my site, I will make the leap to promoting it. Hmm |
